Effect of cutting parameters on thrust force, torque, hole quality and dust generation during drilling of GLARE 2B laminates

The present study investigates the effects of machining parameters and tool coating during drilling a GLARE® hybrid aerospace material on cutting forces, hole quality generation harmful dust particles. tests were conducted using twist drills with diamond-like carbon (DLC), Cristall without coating. Obtained results indicate that feed, in contrast to spindle speed, has an important effect thrust force torque. In addition, when DLC coated tools are used less surface deviation was detected comparison uncoated drills. Moreover, measurement terms total number particles, particles mass generated laminates investigated. reveal that, air found be dependent parameters. fact, lower speed promotes reduction by 50% compared observed at higher speed.
